Congress Street Bridge

What is missing in this picture is people, neighbors, families.
The Taylor Apartments Adult and Youth Resident Council
welcomes all neighbors to help beautify the play space under the Congress Street bridge. With help from
Troy Alley Action Project www.troyalleyaction.org and local artists Marcus Kwame Anderson www.marcuskwame.com and Armando Soto the Taylor community will design and paint a new mural on the wall under the bridge.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

COMMUNITY ART$GRANT

This project is made possible through a Community Arts Grant funded by the Arts Center of the Capital Region through the State and Local Partnership Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency. And also by the Rubin Foundation.

Make a Difference in Your Neighborhood!

Alley Action presented a workshop in September 2009, entitled “Make a Difference in Your Neighborhood!” Debra Lockrow, owner of Artcentric, a gallery representing several local artists, participated. She wanted to improve the visual experience of her street. Her concept was to place murals on the boarded-up windows of several storefronts in the old and vacant Proctor’s Theatre sharing the same block as her business.

Our workshop helped realize her dream through networking with Alley Action, Save Proctor’s Theatre, local artists and other business owners. Along with our support and encouragement, we provided paint for the project. Two photos demonstrate the success.

Paint the Boards Project

We’re involved with the “Paint the Boards Project” in North Central Troy. The project was founded by, and is funded by, a Weed and Seed grant. Neighbors and kids design and paint 4’ X 8’ panels to be installed onto vacant building windows and doors. This helps to secure the buildings and greatly improve their appearance.
